Waste Reduction Partners is uniquely staffed with retired engineers, scientists, and staff who share their expertise with businesses and communities across North Carolina. As a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, civil, environmental, and chemical engineers, scientists, and architects, they have had distinguished careers in a variety of industries, such as automotive, food, textile, utility, chemical, paper, construction, aerospace, electronics, and government. This remarkable group has more than 2,200 years of cumulative experience.

Worked in combustion instrumentation, sensor development, and servovalve development.  Bell Aerospace Textron; made diagnostic measurements in reacting gas flows used for chemical lasers and was program manager on several government projects. Conax Buffalo, sensor development that included three patents for temperature and fiber optic sensors. HSC Contols / Woodward Governor; designed electrohydraulic servovalves for commercial and military applications.  Participated in approximately 100 energy audits with WRP.

Kim has a strong energy and international background working in program and project management with Power Africa/USAID in South Africa and the Energy and Environment Partnership. She has managed hundreds of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects across multiple countries. Most recently, Kim has been working as a senior energy and environment consultant for Green Power Technologies in Virginia and NC on innovative renewable energy development projects.

John Waites amassed over 40 years of experience in Environmental Engineering. His career encompasses involvement in Wastewater Treatment for manufacturing and public facilities, providing consultancy as an engineer for small businesses, and serving as an environmental manager for a large global manufacturer, overseeing groundwater and soil remediation projects.

John holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy.

Watkins, Tammie

Work History:

Tammie Watkin's expertise is in environmental engineering. She has worked for the NC Division of Air Quality and various engineering consulting firms. Her mastery areas include natural gas pipeline design, environmental compliance audits, Phase I environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater remediation, greenhouse gas emission inventories, and HVAC load analysis. Tammie is a licensed PE in North Carolina and California, dedicated to environmental stewardship.
